Research Methodology
Our scoring weights five dimensions over a minimum 90-day observation period. Scores are updated when material changes occur — security incidents, implementation changes or policy shifts.
We create test accounts to verify 2FA, assess PGP challenge-response behaviour and review escrow implementation documentation and community reports.
Automated connectivity checks run every 15 minutes from multiple Tor circuit endpoints. Percentages reflect successful connections over the full period.
Active vendor counts include only listings with at least one confirmed transaction in the preceding 30 days. Dormant listings are excluded from reported counts.
